GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The KILO Slimline Personal Tracker is a hand held cellular device intended for personal use.

It consists of a GPS, Cellular Modem, Sim Card, Microprocessor, Batteries and Power management components.

Kilometers Travelled: The unit continuously keep track of distances travelled by the unit. This consists of a start position and an end position with the actual distance travelled and can be downloaded on the web site. An ideal tool for petrol and travel claims.

FEATURES

• GPS: The GPS (Global Positioning System) employed uses the latest in GPS technology. This technology delivers maximum positional data at the minimum power consumption. Its job is to lock onto the GPS satellites and supply the microprocessor with a steady stream of accurate positional data that include BEARING – the direction the unit is moving in, SPEED – the speed the unit is moving in and the exact Latitude and Longitude of the Comet unit.
• MICROPROCESSOR: The microprocessor is a TEXAS INSTRUMENTS device that is capable of running a powerful program and is used as the "BRAIN" of the KILO unit. It receives the information from and manages the GPS and Cellular Modem. The POWER CONSUMPTION of the KILO unit is constantly monitored by the PROCESSOR and is constantly adjusted to ensure the maximum BATTERY life between charging is obtained.
• CELLULAR MODEM:. The cellular modem is a GSM/GPRS device chosen for its proven reliability and low power consumption. It is controlled by the PROCESSOR and sends and receives information from and to the rest of the system via the GSM/GPRS network.
• SIM CARD: The KILO needs a GSM/GPRS cellular sim card in order to communicate with the web interface and the user. A PRE PAID card, loaded with R 100.00 worth of airtime is supplied with the unit. This will be enough airtime for 24 months of normal use in the default configuration. The SIM card detail is available on the customer login site and can be recharged at any time using any Pre Paid Top Up facility should this be needed.
• BATTERIES:
This unit has one 1.2aH rechargeable battery and is built for easy unobtrusive use in a pocket or handbag.
• BATTERY LIFE: The KILO unit is configured to have the longest possible BATTERY LIFE while giving the best possible performance at the lowest possible cost. The KILO slimline model can last for up to 25 hours of continuous use. When the unit is standing still it switches off completely thus does not use any power at all.

  For example if you travel an average of two hours per day and stand still for the rest of the time, the KILO can last up to 13 days without a recharge.

• CHARGER: The Comet uses a normal cellular "Mini USB" charger and comes with a cigarette lighter charger with a detachable USB to Mini USB cable.

  This cable can also charge the KILO from your PC USB port!

FUNCTIONALITY

The KILO comes setup in a default configuration that will ensure maximum BATTERY LIFE and MUNIMUM CELLULAR costs.

The user, using the KILO SETUP facility on the Web site, can change this setup. This might impact on BATTERY LIFE and SIM CARD costs.

1. Charging:The KILO uses a normal cellular "Mini USB" charger and comes with a cigarette lighter charger with a detachable USB to Mini USB cable. This cable can also charge the KILO from your PC USB port!
2. Buttons: The KILO has two user interface buttons – I and P
   • I – button: This is the On/Off button.
     It has four different uses.
     1. It can switch the unit On and Off by holding it down for 10 seconds.
     2. It will Arm and Disarm the unit by pressing it once. Note the unit must be configured for this mode on the web site.
     3. It can "Mark" a Position by pressing it once together with the P button.
     4. It will RESET the hardware if pressed together with the P button for 10 seconds.
   • P – button: This is the PANIC button. This button will send a PANIC signal when pressed once. It at the same time generates a "Please Call Me" to a designated cell phone if set up to do so on the web customer interface. This function can be used for guards to warn a supervisor of trouble by directly sending a "Please Call Me" to his phone from the KILO without going through the Internet as well as sending the alarm in the normal way.
3. Alarm Mode: When a unit is configured to send a "Please Call Me" to a designated number, the KILO "ALARM MODE" is activated. In this mode the Kilo unit is "armed" by pressing the "I" button once. The RED led flashing four times after having pressed the "I" button indicates the ‘armed’ mode. If the KILO is left to switch off, 120 seconds in default mode, and then senses movement, the user has 20 seconds to disarm the unit by pressing the "I" button once. The GREEN led flashing four times after having pressed the "I" button indicates the ‘disarmed’ mode. If this is not done an "Alarm Triggered" signal will be sent to the Internet User Interface AND a "Please Call Me" will be sent to the designated number configured on the user web site. This function is handy to see if your car/aircraft is being tampered when it is parked. Please note that the unit will auto disarm after the first trigger and has to be set again to be in the armed state.
4. Mark A Position: By pressing the "I" and "P" buttons together for a short time, the unit will log the position at that location and display it in the REPLAY function of the web interface. This can be useful to mark positions that can later be identified on a map and printed.
